At Vantage Point, we believe meaningful work is a powerful part of the recovery journey. Our specialized employment readiness sessions help individuals in treatment centers and recovery programs take their next step toward stability, purpose, and independence.
Through guided workshops, participants gain hands-on tools like resumes, master applications, interview practice, and workplace success strategies—all designed to help them secure “get well” jobs and build confidence for the future.
Participants are introduced to the program and reflect on how employment can support stability, purpose, and recovery. We explore the concept of “get well jobs” — stepping-stone roles that help individuals re-enter the workforce without overwhelming demands. Through a guided strengths inventory, participants identify transferable skills from life, recovery, and past experiences. By the end of the session, each participant begins building a professional resume with the support of facilitators and peers.
Outcomes: Draft resume, clarity on job goals, increased confidence in career direction.
This session focuses on completing polished resumes and learning how to effectively search and apply for jobs in a digital world. Participants are introduced to job boards, LinkedIn, and application tools, as well as strategies for understanding job postings and setting realistic application goals. A “master application” activity helps prepare for common online applications.
Outcomes: Finalized resume, guidance on job searching websites, job search strategy, and an ongoing job log to track progress.
Participants learn how to confidently present themselves in interviews, starting with developing a clear elevator pitch. We cover strategies for answering common questions, addressing resume gaps, and navigating sensitive disclosures such as justice-involved backgrounds. Using the STAR method, participants practice in group roleplays and receive constructive feedback. We also review professional etiquette before and after interviews, including thank-you notes.
Outcomes: Practical interviewing skills, increased self-confidence, prepared responses for common challenges, and peer feedback.
The final session prepares participants for not only getting hired but thriving once on the job. Through roleplay and discussion, participants practice handling common workplace scenarios, such as setting boundaries, addressing conflicts, and managing schedules alongside recovery commitments. The group creates success plans that emphasize building healthy routines, using support systems, and practicing stress management strategies.
Outcomes: Workplace readiness, confidence in handling challenges, and a personalized plan for maintaining success on the job.
