Job Description:

As a job developer, employment specialist, and job coach, you will manage a caseload of clients with ranging disabilities, assisting them throughout the job seeking process. This entails developing a tailored and strategic plan based on the skills and needs of each client. You will assist each client in resume and cover letter development, researching job boards and industries, submitting applications, preparing for interviews, onboarding, and job coaching.


Essential Duties

• Manage a caseload of 35-45 clients with ranging disabilities

• Work one-on-one with clients weekly or biweekly via zoom, phone call, or in-person to support them through the job searching process

• Teach clients how to job seek including resume building, setting up job seeking site profiles, completing online applications, following up with employers, preparing for interviews, and more

• Support clients by connecting them and bringing them to job fairs, hiring events, and networking opportunities

• Initiate and develop personal contacts with businesses and industry representatives to gain employment opportunities for clients

• Offer job coaching to support clients for a successful transition into their new role


Qualities and Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in job developing/coaching, recruiting, human resources, social services

• An associate or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred (social work, psychology, sociology, human resources, etc.)

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities in any capacity (professional or personal) is highly preferred

• Computer savvy and good with research: You will often have to jump into researching industries, jobs, hiring practices, etc.

• Fast paced self-starter: We are a startup environment where you will have to manage your time and responsibilities independently and efficiently

• Empathetic individual who can see past barriers and focus on the potential of an individual

• Located in San Diego, Orange County, or Los

Angeles

• Drivers license, vehicle, clean driving record, and willingness to drive clients when needed (This can be accommodated if necessary)

Salary Range: 

$50,000 annually plus bonus opportunities

Ideal Qualities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Empathetic individual who can see past barriers and focus on the potential of an individual
  • Associate's degree in Communication or Social Work preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced start up work environment
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or social services


Essential duties:

  • Supports clients to ensure they get proper training in their new job roles
  • Teach clients how to be the best employee they can be
  • Communicate with employers and managers to identify barriers, if any
  • Communicate with client regularly to ensure their position is going well
  • Drive to client's place of business, support them in person at their job
  • Prepare notes summarizing the activities of each job coaching session

Salary Range: 

$20 an hour

Responsibilities:

Board members play an active role in supporting the mission and long-term success of Vantage Point. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight to support organizational growth 
  • Serving as an ambassador for the organization within the community 
  • Supporting fundraising and community engagement efforts 
  • Participating in board discussions and decision-making 
  • Serving on at least one committee, as needed 


Commitment:

We aim to create a board experience that is both impactful and manageable for working professionals. Expectations include:

  • Quarterly board meetings (2–3 hours each) 
  • Attendance at a minimum of 75% of scheduled meetings 
  • Participation in occasional committee meetings or special initiatives 
  • A 2-year term, with the option to renew once
